Monsters In Your Pants

College is a chance to further your career and is a test to see how students handle their freedom, but too much freedom might just be dangerous for some students. The percentage of STD’s increases tremendously once college starts, while it seems to be getting worst. According to an article from Article Doctor: the pill fails 6.2% of the time, the condom fails 14.2%, the diaphragm fails 15.6%, and the spermicidal fails 26.3% of the time. (Byrnes, January 30, 2009) Basically the safest way to go is waiting until marriage or just not being sexually active at all, which college student is going to choose those options? I’m probably going to go with none or a selected few. Although it may be hard to deny that beautiful girl who says she’s only had sex twice, you just may have to do it. “Other horrific stats include that one of five Americans is now infected by a viral STD”, was also stated in the Article Doctor. (Byrnes, January 30, 2009)   Do you know how many students enroll into a college every year? Thousands! Every five boys/girls may have an STD at your college, just think about it. For example, imagine that your class is about to start so you decide to take a shower. You then grab your shower caddy and head off to the shower, let’s just say that you put your caddy down over the drain. As you start washing your body the water builds up to your flip flops. Turning around to wash your back as your bathing comes to an end; you accidentally make a splash from stepping.  Let’s say the person that just got out your shower before you, left his towel crouched in the corner where you couldn’t see it. The person that left his towel had crabs, and that towel was used to wash his testicle area. The towel has contaminated the water and that splash of water landed on the bottom of your testicles. You’re in a rush to get to class air drying back to your dorm, never completely drying off with a towel you put on underwear and clothes. Since your testicles weren’t absolutely wiped off with a towel, you have a high chance of contracting crabs. Maybe college students should start taking STD’s as serious as they take those pregnant scares, and go get free testings at local or nearby health centers. I feel that the smartest way to go if you’re going to be sexually active is just to be wise about whom you choose to go in the dorm with, and it wouldn’t hurt to be aware of your surroundings either.
